AI Image Checker: Real or Fake
This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application “AI Image Checker: Real or Fake” (the “App”, “we”, “us”) handles information. By installing or using the App you agree to the practices described below.
In short. The App analyses your images entirely on your device. Your photos are never uploaded to us or to any server. There are no accounts, we never ask for your name or email, and we do not sell personal data. The only data that leaves your device is collected by the Google AdMob advertising service, described in section 4.
The App is published by an independent developer. For any question about this policy or your data, contact developertechxmd@gmail.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.
When you select a photo from your gallery or take one with your camera, the App inspects it locally on your device. The analysis reads technical information embedded in the image file, such as:
This processing happens exclusively on your device. The image and its metadata are not transmitted to us, to our servers (we operate none), or to any third party. We never receive, store or view your photos.
The App saves the following in its private storage area, which is accessible only to the App:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Scan history — verdict, confidence score, detected signals, file name, format, dimensions, date | Show your previous scans on the History screen |
| Reduced-size thumbnails of scanned images | Display previews on the History screen |
| Usage counters — daily and total scan count, reset date, bonus scan credits, first-launch time | Enforce the free daily scan limit and reward credits |
| Premium status flag | Remember whether advertising is disabled |
This information stays on your device. You can erase all of it at any time via Settings → Clear scan history, or by uninstalling the App, which removes its private storage entirely.
The free version of the App displays advertising supplied by Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. This is the only third-party SDK integrated into the App, and the only component that transmits data off your device.
To deliver and measure advertising, Google may collect and process:
Google acts as an independent data controller for this processing. We do not receive this data in a form that identifies you — only aggregated, anonymous performance statistics. Google’s handling of the data is governed by its own policies:
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
INTERNET | Load advertisements. Never used to transmit your images. |
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Check whether a connection is available before requesting an ad. |
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID | Access the Advertising ID for ad delivery, as required by Google Play. |
The App does not request access to your full photo library or to device storage. Images are chosen through the Android system photo picker, which grants access only to the single file you select. Photos taken with the camera are captured through your device’s own camera application.
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will address it promptly.
Data stored locally — history, thumbnails and counters — remains on your device until you clear the history or uninstall the App. Data processed by Google for advertising is retained in accordance with Google’s own retention policies, linked in section 4.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA or other privacy laws, including the rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability.
Because we do not collect or hold personal data ourselves, most of these rights are exercised directly on your device (by clearing the history or resetting your Advertising ID), or with Google in respect of advertising data. For assistance, write to developertechxmd@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Locally stored data is kept in the App’s private storage area, which the Android operating system isolates from other applications. Because your images never leave your device, they are not exposed to transmission or server-side risks. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The App provides a heuristic estimate of whether an image is AI-generated, based on metadata and file structure. Metadata can be removed, altered or forged, and many legitimate images carry no metadata at all. Results are informational guidance only. They must not be treated as proof of authenticity or forgery, nor relied upon for legal, journalistic, forensic or other consequential decisions.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The revised version will be published at this address with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes will be reflected in the App or its Google Play listing. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
